Diane Feissel
Diane Rollins Feissel was born in New Hampshire and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. After years of dance training at the Boston Ballet School and the North Carolina School of the Arts, she decided against a professional career in ballet and studied painting at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
Following graduation in 1993 Diane continued painting studies in Philadelphia through classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Fleisher Art Memorial. Since moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1998, Diane has participated in group shows at HANG ART, 66balmy Gallery, LIMN Gallery, Base Art Gallery, Lift Gallery, Build Community Art Space, City Art Gallery and The Art Explosion as well as in numerous Open Studios exhibitions.
In both 2003 and in 2005 Diane's work was picked for ArtSpan's biennial juried exhibition, "Selections." Diane's work has also been selected for other juried shows in the Bay Area and beyond, including the Ninth Annual Georgetown International Fine Arts Competition hosted by the Fraser Gallery in Washington, D.C. In October 2005 Diane was one of a select group of artists representing San Francisco in Paris through the Le Genie de la Bastille Invitational, and she is slated to participate in a two-person show at San Francisco's Alliance Francaise in September 2006. Diane's work currently is represented in the Bay Area by HANG ART in downtown San Francisco.
Portraiture is a large part of Diane's work, and she received press coverage for her portraiture in January 2006 in "The Wave," a weekly publication covering arts and entertainment in the South Bay. In 2005, one of Diane's portrait paintings was awarded 1st prize in oil at the Los Gatos Arts Association's Annual Juried Exhibition at the Los Gatos Art Museum. Her portraits hang in various locations throughout the Bay Area and beyond, including Sacramento, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver, Washington, D.C, Park City, Utah and Paris, France.
