This painting is one of three in a triptych, inspired by Claude Debussy's piano music, "Images" . The emotion and motion of the music's shimmering transparencies and oriental harmonies suggested the colors and brushstrokes I painted. The composer Debussy felt that 'The freedom which music posesses is a mysterious correspondence between nature and imagination' -an idea which resonates with how I think as a painter.
