Susan Garry-Lorica : Biography
Prior to relocating to California, Susan Garry-Lorica spent the first twenty five years of her life on the plains of South Dakota. She received a BFA in painting and printmaking from South Dakota State University in 1986 followed by a BS in Nursing in 1990. She practiced Nursing in the areas of Oncology and Hospice in Northern California from 1990-1995 before a health challenge of her own led her back to making art, this time drawn to sculptural depictions of the human body.
She has been living and working in San Francisco since 2002. She was selected to exhibit her work in the 2005 Emerging Artist Exhibition at California Institute of Integral Studies funded by the Phyllis Jackson Memorial Fund for the Arts, and has participated inseveral exhibits in San Francisco, including a solo exhibit in collaboration with Project X entitled Tracing the Body , at 66 Balmy in 2005. Many collectors of Susan's work live in the Bay Area, as well as,other parts of the US and Europe.
